Boise Terminal RS-3 #7804 with a chopped short hood

The Boise Terminal Railroad is a short line serving a couple of elevators outside of Boise, Idaho. It purchased a pair of ex-MSO Alcos (a RS-3 and RS-3) in 2005, then operated them (the RS-3 was operational, the RS-2 was a parts engine) for about 20 years before trading them in to ILW in 2025. Those units ended up being remanufactured, then sold to the (MSO-parent) Northeastern District of the United Railways Trust in 2026.
