The last of the properties the LT&L acquired from the Société des chemins de fer du Québec was – in 2007 – the Chemin de fer Charlevois. The CdfC was in good shape – unelectrified, but in good shape – and a few of the older executives from the LT&L remembered riding the old cars on the Quebec Railway, Light, and Power interurban before the Canadian National purchased the interurban and abandoned the electrification, so, after the previous purchase from the SCFQ was back in (the) black, the wire trains headed up past Ville de Québec and started stringing wire over the previously electrified QRL&P route (the remainder of the line north to La Malbaie had never been electrified in the first place, so was left to be operated by diesels.
There was some interest in running excursion & ski trains along the line, so some of the PV&T’s Budd interurbans, which last saw service for the MBTA in the mid-1990s, were reconditioned as tourist coaches and put back into service on the CdfC.
The CdfC operates a small fleet of RS-18m’s for freight north of Saint-Joachim, a pair of class J2 motors for terminal operations in Ville Québec and the tiny amount of freight traffic originating or terminating south of Saint-Joachim, and of course the handful of class 10P interurbans for excursions and ski trains (operating under wire south of Saint-Joachim, then pulled by one of the DL16s the rest of the way to La Malbaie.)
